150 Years and Beyond

Come Celebrate the Journey!

On August 27, 1865 a group of dedicated disciples organized the First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, Ohio. In 2015 we will celebrate our 150th birthday as a church, also known as a sesquicentennial.

In September of 2014 we marked the special occasion with a series of events over the following year.  Those included…

–          A series of articles about our history to be published in our newsletter and on the website

–          An organ rededication service in November 9, 2014 celebrating the completion of a major renovation and upgrade of this beautiful instrument

–          A trip to Scotland in May 25- June 3, 2015. (See the brochure at Discovering Scotland)

–          A family friendly trip closer to home in the summer of 2015

–          A special celebration weekend set for August 29 to 30 of 2015 with a Saturday night dinner and a Sunday morning worship celebration

We also began work together in the year on development of a beautiful new green space next door to the church. And explored ways we could increase our mission giving and involvement in our community.

Come Celebrate the Journey with a “Hymn of Praise”.

On Sunday, February 15 we were blessed in our church with the premiere performance of an original musical piece, “Hymn of Praise.”  This was an original composition by Bonnie Donnelly and Bill Buelow written specifically to celebrate our 150th celebration. They graciously agreed to allow us to record the piece.
