Welcome to our website!  It is designed to assist you in learning about the ministry and mission of First Presbyterian Church, Marietta, Ohio.  If you have questions that are not answered here, please call he church office, 740-373-1800.

As we worship and work together, visitors are invited to become members and members are encouraged to increase the depth of their commitment to Jesus Christ and the Church.

If you desire to unite with this congregation, you may do so by one of three ways:

1) A Transfer of Membership from another congregation where you have been active as a member.  We request the transfer and the Session will receive you into the full life and membership of the church when we are notified that a particular congregation has dismissed you to our care and keeping.

2) A Reaffirmation of  Faith in which you reaffirm the vows of church membership taken previously.  This may occur after you have been absent from a previous congregation for a long time or when a previous congregation is not in the habit of transferring memberships.

3) An Affirmation of Faith when you have come to understand yourself as a child of God and are ready to publicly state that you "believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior" and desire to be a part of his body, the Church.

Any of these may be set in motion by discussing your desire with the Pastor.

Periodically the Pastor will hold an "Inquirer's Class" for persons who are exploring the Christian faith and the Presbyterian Church and/or are interested in the possibility of becoming a member of this congregation.

The Church also offers a Confirmation Class, generally each year, for young adults of Middle School age who are ready to make a Profession of Faith or are desiring to learn more about the Church before making a commitment to Jesus Christ and the church.
